We are still going light on breakfast as we noticed we are still not shrinking in size.

.
We are heading for the Unterberg Mounatain to go hiking today.
Caught the bus to take us to the lift. As we were waiting a nice lady asked us if we needed help. Explainwed which bus to take and where to get off. She even cam back when our bus was schedueled to arrive and made sure we got on the right bus. We seem to meet very nice people. Must be the new toothpaste we switched to.

The cable car
The bus dropped us off at the lift. The side of the mountain is very steep. So steep there are no intermediate supports. Just the base station and oen at the top of the first ridge we cross. Half way up the lift stopped and swung in mid air for about 30 seconds. At that point we were several hundred feet above the ground. The worst part was before we started going up again, we slid back 5-10 feet. We never asked the reason because we still had to come back down. If there was a problem I would prefer knowing about it once I was back on the ground again.

.
On a clear day the views are said to be amazing. This was the view when we arrived at the top.

The first summit
The slight bump on the left peak is the first destination. It is a 10 foot high cross.

.
.
We passed the first summit and stopped for a break near this cliff edge. There was a significant drop off and this was as close as we prefrred to get to it.
There are no rails in Europe

The goal
This is where we planned to walk to.

the trail on the other side

.
. This is not walking. This is hiking.

We did not make the goal. We were tired and beat from the climbing and stepping. We stopped and had lunch in a secluded spot with a boring view and then headed back. Mom had the bright idea of picking up a good sized rock and seeing how far it would roll. It was very lucky that therewere not a lot of hikers out today becasue it rolled quite a ways. Fortunately it did not start an avalanche.

The lift station
The clouds were rolling in by the time we got back..

. We rode the bus back to town. A very full bus. So full we could not get off when we wanted to. Had to get off at the next stop because the crowds slowed us down ot get to the door. The driver had a schedule to keep.

. We went through the old town again on the way back to the hotel.Diane took more pictures that we can post tomorrow.
