Today is Sunday and we decided to take the boat ride around the island.
.
Lock closing on us |
We went through 2 locks. One leaving the Danube canal to go into the Danube river and one to leave the river and go back into the canal. The canal creates an island as it goes through the city of Vienna. |
When we got back we walked through the old town on our way to see the schmetterlinghaus. In English that means the butterfly house. . | The old town |
Butterfly |
It was roasting in there and not a lot of butterflies. Again, something you want to do at a different time. Find out first when there are lots of butterflies. It would make sweating like a pig a bit more worth it. |

A building distracting me from finding the street to the dessert store |
More buildings separating me from dessert |
It is a maze with chocolate at the end instead of cheese. |
This is the final tunnel and dessert is on the other side |
We ate our goodies while sitting on the steps of this statue. Anyone that wanted a picture of this statue while we ate our dessert is going to have us included in the picture. Perhaps we should have put out a bucket and charged to have our pictures taken. | Blending in with the crowd. |
Yet another building |
After we ate, we walked down this street and that. Vienna is a big city with old buildings around every corner. Very few streets are straight. |
It was fun watching people and all the street vendors. One guy did these awesome paintings. We were there for a while watching him. He did it all with spray paint. He had a bucket out for coins but he made his money selling the paintings. 15 Euros for the small ones. He sold a half dozen while we were watching. | Spray can artist. |
The tour boat |
This is the boat that we rode this morning. The benches on the back deck seat 40 if you really squeeze in tight and people did. Then 15 more people fit in the standing room only section behind the benches. We were sitting downwind of the smokers. |
